Our friends at Dumbo Feather are all about having inspiring conversations with extraordinary people, and Susan Carland is one of them.
Susan is a Melbourne-based sociologist, and on 10 March, she will speak at a special Dumbo Feather event about her experiences as an activist, academic, Muslim and mother advocating for a more openhearted Australia.
A commentator and public figure, Susan became well known for her role on SBS comedy show, Salam Cafe. Last year, she made headlines for her decision to donate $1 to UNICEF for every hate tweet she received.
"By refusing to let the hate of others mould me, I am more secure and relaxed in my own identity than ever," Susan Carland, Sydney Morning Herald, November 2015.
Dumbo Feather’s conversation event with Susan will explore questions like: In a globalised world, how does the circle of love widen, rather than close in? What’s at the core of the prejudice we still encounter in our political and social lives?
Bank Australia is proud to support this Dumbo Feather conversation.
Address: The White House 11 Princes St, St Kilda, VIC, Australia
Date: 10 March 2016
