Bank Australia is now a subscriber to the Banking Code of Practice
At Bank Australia, we’re committed to responsible banking. This means putting people before profit, not lending more than customers can afford, and providing excellent and responsive service for our customers.
From 1 July 2019 Bank Australia became a subscriber to the updated Australian Banking Association Banking Code of Practice (the Code).
The Code sets out a range of behaviours and principles that banks must follow to look after their customers and provide banking products and services in a way that is fair, accessible, and focussed on customer’s needs.
The Code covers a range of standards that are designed to make banking fairer and more transparent. The code is underpinned by four guiding principles:
- Trust and Confidence
- Integrity
- Service
- Transparency and Accountability
For more information on what the Code covers and who it applies to, you access a copy of the Code visit the ABA’s website or request a copy from any of our branches.
We’ve heard from our customers that signing up to the new Code is something they expect from us as a responsible bank. We’ll also continue to also subscribe to the Customer Owned Banking Code of Practice, which is a set of ethical principles that apply to customer-owned banks.
Through adherence to both Codes, we’ll continue to provide quality and value-for-money banking, excellent service and banking that benefits people and the planet.
