Bank Australia customer Fitted for Work has been helping women overcome barriers to employment since 2005.
The organisation prepares women for work - mentally and physically – and provides them with practical skills to help them take their place in the workforce. They offer a range of programs to familiarise women with the job search and recruitment process, and build confidence and communication skills.
Fitted for Work’s boutique service operates in Melbourne and Sydney, offering a free personal style consultation to fit women with a professional interview outfit from a range of high-quality second-hand items donated by the community.
Fitted for Work also offers coaching and mentoring opportunities to nurture women throughout their journey to ensure they feel supported to remain in a role after they have been recruited.
The SheWorks program is a social enterprise operated by Fitted for Work, and will begin assisting women in Melbourne from November 2017. With Bank Australia’s support, SheWorks will help 35 Victorian women who are experiencing disadvantage to become work ready and link them to job opportunities.
Working with a number of referral partners, SheWorks participants will be supported through targeted programs including intensive interview preparation workshops, resume assistance, a personal outfitting appointment, one-on-one coaching and - ongoing access to the resume hub and recruitment support.
SheWorks Operations Manager Xavier Buckley believes that the program will have wide-ranging impacts for the 35 participants: “When women have hope, confidence, and economic security through work, the flow-on effect is transformational.”
Since its founding in 2005, Fitted for Work has assisted over 24,000 women to step out of disadvantage into employment, and provided ongoing support to promote financial security, dignity, and pride.
Bank Australia is proud to support the SheWorks program through our Impact Fund customer grants program. As part of our commitment to responsible banking, we invest 4% of our after-tax profits in initiatives that benefit people and the planet.
The program begins in November 2017 and will continue to March 2018.
