As a part of our commitment to the ICT sector, Intech Bank funds a number of scholarships to support promising students pursuing degrees in technology.
The Intech Bank Scholarship in Information Technology was established in 2016 with UTS in Sydney, to provide support for undergraduate students studying Information Technology. The Scholarship provides financial assistance for the first year of study in their chosen undergraduate Information Technology degree at UTS.
Our scholarship recipient for 2017 is first year Software Engineering student Berkan. He applied for the scholarship to help him fund the necessities of study such as books, public transport to get to his classes and other living costs during his course. Berkan says he believes that this support from Intech Bank will help him to reach his career and personal goals and overcome some of the financial hurdles to higher education.
“I always tell my friends that one day I will be the person creating their internet banking app or their online shopping website. Being able to problem solve and create solutions to real-world problems through technology excites me and inspires me to work hard.”
“The assistance I’m receiving from this scholarship will ensure I will be able to kick start tertiary education and my career,” Berkan said.
Rob Jarman, Associate Dean (Teaching and Learning) in the Faculty of Engineering and IT at UTS explains that many students experience difficulties that can impact on their ability to access a quality higher education.
“UTS has developed initiatives which promote social inclusion and broaden participation in tertiary education. The diversity of the student community is a positive feature of university life so people with the widest range of backgrounds are encouraged to come to UTS and succeed in their studies, and we want them to be able to access support while they are here.”
Our Intech Bank scholarships are investments in fair access to education within the Bank Australia Impact Fund which also funds a number of projects including a scientific calculator program with State Schools Relief and an educational disadvantage scholarship in perpetuity with QUT.
