Why did bankmecu change its name?

We want to position the bank for the future. We also want to attract the next generation of people who will support our customer-owned bank.  We know many people are looking for an approach to banking that is about more than just profit, one that cares for people, communities and the environment. 

The research we’ve conducted told us the name bankmecu is confusing and does not appeal to people.  In contrast the name Bank Australia attracts people’s attention it is clear and strong.
