Dealing with the loss of a job

Losing a job can affect you in a number of ways – and not always purely financial. It’s important to look after your physical and mental health during this time and ask for help – from family, friends, and related organisations – if you need it.

Losing a job is something a lot of people experience in life, and there are resources available to help you through it.

What to do next

Bank Australia can provide levels of assistance to support our customers through the financial impact of a job loss.

As well as offering support over the phone or in-person at one of our branches, customers who may be having trouble meeting loan or credit card payments can talk to our team about hardship support.

The team may be able to provide support by lowering any contracted repayments you have with us and extending the terms of your loan, or applying a short repayment break until you get back on top of things. As well as contacting us, we also recommend seeking independent advice as soon as possible.
