Not if you don’t want to. At the very beginning of your application we will ask you to sign a discharge authority form which will allow us to handle all matters relating to the bank you are switching from.
To approve a refinance application, we’ll need you to arrange for your building insurance for the property(s) being offered as security to note Bank Australia as the mortgagee. This is also called a ‘Certificate of Insurance’. You can request to change your building insurance policy through your insurance provider. They will update it and can usually provide it via email.
A signed discharge authority form will allow us to notify your current lender that you are refinancing your home loan to Bank Australia. We’ll provide you with the form and once it is signed we can handle all matters relating to your current lender, including booking in your loan settlement.
Our goal is to process your application as quickly as possible and the process should only take a few weeks. The exact timeframes may depend on the time it takes for your previous bank to discharge your loan.
Your personal Bank Australia lender (or broker) will notify you of key milestones throughout the application process and can help answer any questions about the status of your application or other matters at any stage of the process.
