Who we are

We started in 1957 as the CSIRO Co-operative Credit Society. Since, we have joined together 72 credit unions and co-operatives on our way to becoming Australia’s first customer-owned. In 2015, we changed our name to Bank Australia.

We are owned by our customers. This means we don’t answer to shareholders. Our profits are returned to customers through better rates and fees and our investments are used to create positive social and environmental change.

Our Everyday Access transaction account provides you with everything you need to do your daily banking. With an attached Visa Debit you also have access to your money internationally and have 24/7 fraud monitoring.

What about fees? 

You can bank without fees if one of these applies to you:

  • You add $2000 or more in external deposits to your Everyday Access account each month (like your salary)
  • You are under 25 years of age

If you receive a government benefits or a pension, we offer other fee free accounts.   

If the above points don't apply to you, there will be a $5 per monthly account fee.
