Drumroll, please: announcing our 2024 community customer grants recipients

Photo journal

At Bank Australia, we believe in the power of community. Every year, our community customer grants program supports customers making a positive impact within our key impact areas.

We’re thrilled to announce the 12 recipients of this year’s community customer grants. Since the program's inception in 2016, we have provided over $2 million in funding to 149 projects. Our grants are designed to empower organisations that are driving change and making a meaningful difference in the world.

Our key impact areas enable us to support a broad range of impactful projects each year. By focusing on these areas, we can address a wide array of social, environmental, and community issues, ensuring our grants can have diverse impact.

Our community customer grants program is open to community customers – organisations such as not-for-profits, community groups, schools, volunteer organisations, and social enterprises – who have held a Bank Australia account for at least one year by June 30th of the funding year. Each year, these organisations have the opportunity to apply for grants of up to $20,000 to support their impactful work. We are proud to support a diverse range of projects across various areas.

The application process for the 2024 grants began with submissions from a wide array of passionate and innovative community organisations. We invite our individual customers to express interest in joining our grant selection committee, fostering a collaborative and inclusive decision-making process. This year, we selected two customers to join the committee, working alongside Bank Australia staff and a director of the bank. Their valuable insights and perspectives help ensure our grants effectively support a broad range of impactful projects within the community.

"Being part of the selection committee for the community customer grants gave me a real appreciation for how carefully the Impact team works to ensure diversity among committee members. Each of us spent a lot of time and effort researching and scoring before we came together to discuss and finalise the grant recipients. These collaborative discussions were key to making well-rounded decisions and underscored how important diverse perspectives are in the decision-making process. - Dumindi Kaduruwana, Bank Australia staff committee member.

We congratulate this year’s recipients and are eager to see the positive impact their projects will have on our community. These projects embody the spirit of our values and showcase the incredible work being done to create a better world for people, animals, and the planet.

Stay tuned for updates on the inspiring work of this year’s grant recipients. We will be highlighting their progress and achievements on our website and social media channels throughout the year. Their stories are a testament to the power of community and the significant difference that dedicated, passionate organisations can make.
