Treaty Day Out 2025: celebrating First Nations artists and supporting Treaty in Victoria

Photo journal

We’re proud to have again supported Treaty Day Out in Morwell/Gunaikurnai Country on Saturday 8 February 2025. There was an amazing line up including A.B. Original, Electric Fields, Troy Cassar-Daley, and many more, all of which raised awareness and support for the journey towards Treaty.

Treaty is the opportunity to make sure First Nations people will always have the freedom and power to make the decisions that affect their communities, their culture and their Country.

Elected members of the First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria were in attendance on the day and community members had the opportunity to stop by the information stall to have a yarn, learn about Treaty and ask any questions about the community led initiatives that are happening across the state. Everyone is welcome at Treaty Day Out.

Who is the First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria?

The First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria is the independent and democratically elected body to represent Traditional Owners of Country and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Victoria.

What is Treaty?

Treaty is our shared opportunity to tackle the racist legacies of invasion and create a better future together. This year they will enter negotiations on a state-wide Treaty with the Victorian Government.

Treaty Day Out

Treaty Day Out is a festival organised by the First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria to raise awareness and support for the journey towards Treaty in Victoria. The first Treaty Day Out was held in Shepparton in February 2022, and was quickly followed by other successful festivals in Bendigo, Melbourne and Ballarat.

Why is Bank Australia partnering with Treaty Day out?

We see First Nations reconciliation, and genuine recognition and respect for First Nations people, as a fundamental responsibility for Bank Australia. As a customer-owned bank, we know our customers care about reconciliation and in 2024 we launched our First Nations Recognition and Respect Strategy.

This strategy sets our vision to 2030 for walking together towards First Nations justice, reconciliation and self-determination. Now more than ever we need to continue progressing reconciliation, and our ongoing commitment to the full realisation of the Uluru Statement from the Heart.
