Everyone is invited to join the Walk for Truth, a powerful journey of truth-telling, healing, and solidarity led by the Yoorrook Justice Commission.

As Victoria’s first formal truth-telling process into historical and ongoing injustices experienced by First Peoples in Victoria, over the past four years Yoorrook has heard powerful truths from people right across the state, giving evidence on the impacts of colonisation, including systemic injustice, as well as the strength, resistance and achievements of First Peoples.

The Walk for Truth will be ‘a powerful way to build shared understanding of these truths, talking together about our history, while walking together to transform our future’. -Yoorrook Justice Commission.

Starting on Sunday 25 May, Yoorrook Commission deputy chair Travis Lovett is walking nearly 400km from Portland on Gunditjmara Country, where colonisation began in Victoria, to Parliament House on Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Country

During the Walk, Commissioner Lovett, a Kerrupmara Gunditjmara man, will travel through towns and centres including Warrnambool, Colac, Geelong and Footscray, finishing at Parliament House on Wednesday 18 June.

This Walk for Truth is more than a physical journey. It’s a call to all Victorians to walk together toward a shared understanding of history, to acknowledge the truths of colonisation, and to celebrate the strength, resistance, and enduring culture of First Nations Peoples.
