How to send an international transfer

To make an international transfer you will need to obtain the details of the final beneficiary and their bank account information, such as;

  • Beneficiary account name, street address and account number (or IBAN)
  • Beneficiary bank name, street address and bank code/s

Depending on the country of the beneficiary bank, further information may be required to complete the payment or it may be requested at a later stage.

You can send an international transfer through your internet banking by following the below steps

Important: your transfer must be less than AUD $2,000 and sent in a foreign currency.

Step 1
Login to Bank Australia internet banking by clicking the 'my account login' icon on bankaust.com.au. Enter your customer number and password.

Step 2
Select 'Transfer/Pay' then navigate to 'International Transfers' then to 'send money overseas' and follow the prompts to validate your factor 2 authorisation (i.e. token or Secure SMS).

Step 3
For all new transfers click 'create transfer'. For two or more to sign accounts, locate the payment requiring approval from the list shown or use the magnifying glass to search for transactions older than 7 days.

Step 4
Select the country you are sending to, the currency you want the payment sent in, and enter the amount for an indicative quote (select 'Foreign' if you know the foreign currency amount you wish to send, or select 'AUD' and enter the AUD equivalent).

Step 5

Choose the account you want the money to come from, and then complete the required fields. When finished, click 'Next' to review the information..

Step 6

When you are happy with what you have entered, click 'update quote' and then 'Pay now'.
