Partnering with Environment Victoria to support household electrification

Photo journal

We’re proud to announce our partnership with Environment Victoria, an independent charity working to build a thriving, sustainable society that protects and values nature.

Through our impact fund, this partnership will help more Victorian households switch to efficient, all-electric homes.

Making homes more energy-efficient and healthier to live in

Environment Victoria will deliver practical programs that help people electrify their homes — especially households that face barriers like cost, renting or older housing.

Switching from gas to electric appliances can:

  • Lower energy bills
  • Cut climate pollution
  • Improve indoor air quality

That means homes that are more comfortable to live in and better for the climate.

Why does home electrification matter?

Climate change is one of the top concerns our customers share with us, and we are guided by our climate action strategy.

Most of our emissions come from residential home loans, so supporting customers to buy, build and upgrade efficient, electric homes is one of the key steps we can take for climate action.

Community electrification events across Victoria

As part of the partnership, Environment Victoria will work with Neighbourhood Houses Victoria to host up to 30 community electrification events across the state.

These events will explain how electric homes work and share step-by-step guidance and practical tips to make changes. Environment Victoria’s research shows that cutting emissions from homes is essential to reaching net zero as a state — and that people need clear, practical support to make the switch. That’s why we’re supporting this work at a community level.
