Receive international payments quickly and reliably. It’s a low-cost alternative to the SWIFT transactions.

Receiving an international transfer

At Bank Australia, we use Western Union Business Solutions, a division of The Western Union Company, to receive and send international transfers.

To receive funds from overseas into your Bank Australia account, you will need to provide the person or business sending money to you with payment instructions. The payment instructions vary depending on the currency being sent to you.

Obtaining payment instructions is as simple as logging in to your internet banking, and following below steps:

Step 1 – Click ‘Transfer/Pay’ and select ‘International Transfers’

Step 2 – Choose ‘receive money from overseas’ and then follow the prompts to complete the form

Step 3 – Forward the payment instructions to the person transferring money to you

  • Ensure funds are deposited in the nominated currency into the nominated account.
  • Instruct the overseas bank to include the Payment Reference in the bank's reference field
