Partnering with purpose: Bank Australia and Muru Office Supplies

Photo journal

Who we do business with matters. That’s why we’re proud to announce our new partnership with Muru Office Supplies—a Supply Nation certified, Indigenous-owned business that shares our commitment to creating a more inclusive and equitable future.

Founded in 2014 by Mitchell Ross, a proud Bidjigal man from La Perouse in southeast Sydney, Muru Office Supplies is more than just a supplier. They are a purpose-driven organisation that reinvests a portion of their profits into community-led initiatives focused on education, employment, and wellbeing for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

A partnership that aligns with our customers’ values

This partnership is a tangible step forward in delivering on our First Nations Recognition and Respect Strategy. By choosing to source our stationery and office supplies through Muru, we’re not only supporting a First Nations-owned business—we’re also helping to enable Muru to continue to support impactful programs that are creating real change across Australia.

Here are just a few of the initiatives Muru supports:

  • Early childhood education: Providing safe, nurturing environments for over 30 Indigenous children to help them transition successfully into the public school system.
  • IndigiGrow: A social enterprise based in La Perouse that focuses on the propagation of native plants, including bush foods and the critically endangered Eastern Suburbs Banksia Scrub. Muru supports the employment of Aboriginal trainees who gain hands-on horticultural skills and cultural knowledge.
  • Her Future Foundation: Supporting First Nations women through tailored employment, education, and entrepreneurial mentoring programs in culturally safe environments.
  • DeadlyScience: Delivering STEM resources and programs to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth, especially in regional and remote communities. Muru’s support has enabled the employment of a First Nations team member to help expand these programs nationally.

Making every order count

Through this partnership, all Bank Australia locations will begin ordering office supplies through Muru. This means that every pen, notepad, and ream of paper we purchase contributes to these powerful community initiatives.

We’re excited about the positive impact this partnership will have—not just within our organisation, but across the communities Muru supports. It’s one more way we’re living our values and working towards a more just and inclusive Australia.
