Bank Australia supports the Uluru Statement from the Heart

Photo journal

Bank Australia is proud to add its support to the Uluru Statement from the Heart and recognises the continued connection to Country and enduring culture of First Nations people.

Bank Australia is proud to add its support to the Uluru Statement from the Heart and recognises the continued connection to country and enduring culture of First Nations people.

"We see reconciliation as a fundamental responsibility for Bank Australia. As a customer-owned responsible bank we are committed to advancing reconciliation and working with Australia’s First Peoples." says Bank Australia’s Managing Director Damien Walsh.

"In supporting the Uluru Statement we are adding Bank Australia’s voice, on behalf of its customers, to those who have publically stood with First Nations people."

"We support the Uluru Statement’s call to enshrine a First Nations Voice in the Australian Constitution and the implementation of a Makarrata Commission to supervise the process of agreement making and truth telling between government and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples."

"This support is consistent with Bank Australia’s own Constitution which acknowledges First Nations Peoples’ continued ownership of Australia’s lands and waters, as well as the spirit and principles embedded into the bank’s fourth Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan."

The Uluru Statement from the Heart emerged from a constitutional convention of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander delegates, representing a national consensus position on constitutional recognition of First Nations peoples across Australia.
