Highly trusted, most recommended, green home loans: We won 7 categories in the 2023 Mozo Awards

Photo journal

As Australia’s first customer-owned bank, we put people, purpose and planet at the centre of everything we do. That’s why we’re honoured to win four 2023 Mozo People’s Choice Awards (plus a few Experts’ Choice Awards for good measure).

We do things a bit differently at Bank Australia.

From helping steward a conservation reserve to funding community grants for our customers, the decisions we make are about having a positive impact on people, communities and the planet. Simply put, we’re banking on a better future.

We do all of this because it’s what our customers want. We know – they’ve told us so. As Australia’s first customer-owned bank, every person who banks with us is also a shareholder with an equal voice and vote on the issues we support through our impact fund. Instead of executive bonuses, we reinvest in fair rates, fees and quality products. Instead of dividends, we focus on collective decision-making. Instead of profit-at-all-costs, we balance profit, purpose and people.

As you can probably guess, our customers are a big deal to us, which is why we’re so delighted to take home four Mozo People’s Choice Awards for 2023. The People’s Choice Awards are based on real customer feedback to determine and celebrate Australia’s favourite banking, insurance and household services products. Every year, Mozo surveys thousands of Australians to find out how well banking providers are living up to their customers’ expectations. This year, drumroll please, Bank Australia was recognised in four of the seven esteemed award brackets.

‍

While winning any award is always an honour, we’re especially pleased with the banking categories we won: Highly Trusted, Most Recommended, Excellent Customer Service and Outstanding Customer Satisfaction. You can check out the full list of winners here.

Damien Walsh, Bank Australia’s managing director, says the support of our enthusiastic and engaged community underpins everything we do. “Every single Bank Australia customer is a part owner of the organisation,” he says. “We listen to our customers, we answer to our customers, and we act on behalf of our customers. So to know we’re continuing to earn their trust and satisfaction is really meaningful.”

‍

These accolades wouldn’t be possible without the kind folk who gave us a shout out. “We want to thank everyone who voted for us, and who continue to recommend Bank Australia to others,” Damien says. “It’s with your help that we’re growing the clean money movement and investing in a better future.”

It wasn’t just customers who had their say; Mozo also called on a team of expert judges to assess Australia’s best home loan products for their Experts Choice Awards. The judges had a huge job to do, analysing 480 home loans from 98 lenders offering thousands of rate variants. (Phew!)

Bank Australia’s Clean Energy Home Loan Eco Plus took home the honours in the Green Home Loan category, which champions loans that lead to greener lifestyles. Our Clean Energy Home Loans do exactly that, rewarding people who do the right thing for the planet when buying or building a new home, like installing solar panels, glazing windows or adding insulation.

Two of our loans – our Basic Home Loan and Fixed Premium Home Loan Package – were also both awarded in the Fixed Rate Home Loan and Investor Fixed Home Loan categories. You can see the full list of winners here.

Ingrid Deehan, Bank Australia’s head of product, says these accolades from experts mean we’re on to a good thing when it comes to our home loan products. “It’s a very competitive world out there when it comes to home loans,” she says. “There was a huge breadth of knowledge and experience on the Mozo judging panel, so we were thrilled to be recognised, especially for our industry-leading Clean Energy Home Loan.”

These wins come off the back of another recent award, when we were named Finder’s Green Bank of the Year for the third time.

Winning awards isn’t everything, but it does show us that doing things differently is good. After all, that’s how you make a difference.
