Have you ever seen half a beard wandering around? Come 31 August, you may. Likewise, keep your eye out for a head of hair with half a braid…
We caught up with Halfcut Co-Founder Jimmy to learn why.
So, tell us, what’s Halfcut all about?
Halfcut is a fundraising movement where 100% of the money raised goes towards buying actual rainforest land through a special partnership we formed with The Rainforest Trust.
This is to support threatened and endangered species, traditional owners of the land and the climate crisis.
What does the half beard have to do with it?
We wear the issue on our face: half a beard, or half your hair braided, demonstrates the facts that 50% of the world’s forests are destroyed and 50% of plants are extinct.
What’s the one thing you wished everyone knew?
At the current rate of deforestation, it’s estimated that if we don’t change this pattern, in 100 years all forests will be gone. All of them.
What should people do on Saturday 31 August?
Sign up! Then go #halfcut on Saturday 31 and invite people to donate to your page.
Every $2.50 protects one acre of rainforest for life (that’s less than a coffee). Every donation is matched dollar for dollar with our partners, The Rainforest Trust, so you can double your impact.
In 2019, we want to raise $365k!
Be a visual disruption for the day, the weekend or as long as you please. Start conversations about rainforests and conservation.
Importantly, what if you’ve facial hair free – no beard and bald?!
It’s about getting creative – you could even wear a big wig! That would start some conversations with family and friend.
Investing in rainforests is a positive tangible outcome for every species on Earth. If you can't wear the issue on your head, maybe you can wear it in your back pocket with a donation.
Halfcut are currently making the switch to Bank Australia.
